What to do when your art is ready

When your individual or collective piece is finished, we ask that you follow these steps to help us assemble your creation, your photos, and your testimony(ies) when installing the mega collective creation.

Sign your creation

We would like all pieces to bear the name or mark of those who created them somewhere.

You can embroider your name – or marks – as part of your design on the front, but we also ask that you write your name clearly with indelible marker on a scrap of fabric that you can sew onto the back of the piece.

We ask that you do this on a scrap of fabric so the indelible marker does not damage your creation. Then you can sew the scrap to your piece with invisible stitches in the front, using a sewing thread of the same color as the fabric.

If you sew with small stitches and with thread of the same color as your fabric, the stitches will not be noticeable from the front.

Adding your town/city and the year is not essential, but if you have the room for it, it will help us to keep things organized when we have thousands of creations to install.

We greatly appreciate the time you’ve already taken and for all these final details that especially help us to be able to show and tell the stories of your embroideries.

We’ve finished our contribution for the Ecosystem of Hope!

While you are preparing the scrap of fabric with your name(s), we also ask that you fill out this survey to have a testimony of your individual or collective creation.

If your creation is collective

It would be ideal if you could prepare the testimony together, capturing the collective embroidery experience and the collective actions your group is undertaking, or things you have learnt in the process o creating collectively. Try to use words from all the people who participated. You can get inspired to write by reading some other collective embroidery testimonies.

If your creation is individual

Here you can read some of the individual testimonies that appear in this tour of the Forest of Hope, currently in Spanish only, but google can help translate.

At the end of the survey, you can also upload some photos. We would love it if you could include some photos of the process, especially if you participated in a collective embroidery, in addition to your own finished piece.

How to send it

We hope you are already in contact with more people in your region/country who are coordinating activities for this project. If not, please send us an email to zurciendoelplaneta@gmail.com with the subject line: I FINISHED (or WE FINISHED!) so that we can connect you with your local coordinator.

If you already know your coordinator, please arrange the logistics with her to get your textile piece to her. As this project is self-managed, we ask you to make a donation, within your possibilities, so the journey to Brazil of the Ecosystem of Hope can become a reality.

We are looking at multiple ways to make this project a reality (local raffles and fundraising) and will soon upload some more options for financial support.
